I just returned from a trip and had triedpowering my laptop with this device. The racketit made was incredible, so I did not run it formore than a few minutes as I thought it couldpossibly damage my computer. It seems fine for using it to recharge batteries, but forget powering a laptop. I suppose it is possiblethat mine is defective. I will have to look into that.
Powers electronics very well, but is heavy, bulky and can be noisy when the fan runs. However, these "cons" are easy to deal with for me. I've tried other converters that get so hot, in temperature, that I do not trust them.
.can sombody tell me if they experience the radio for the car not turn off when this device in hook on the cigarret outlet. until few secong.and is this problem will damage my car electric sistem. thank you for the future feedback.
This unit arrived with a broken car-adapter cord. Instead, I ended-up purchasing a similar looking model in-store someplace. Not sure if this means it was cheap (probably) or was a really old unit that had sat in storage for a long time. Also, it appeared to have a small fan, something I'd been trying to avoid. It was another "400W" model and cost more ($60) but I was able to confirm beforehand that it had no fan. Sorry, can't remember the brand or model.
Product works great. Xantrex products work. I tried other brands with same specs and had to returne them all because they would not power the portable DVD player.
